This week, we’re enjoying Peru - an organic light roast from Portland Coffee Roasters. With brown sugar, maple syrup and herbal notes, this is an excellent representation of the coffee coming from Peru.
Cooperatives in the region promote the idea of diversification by growing other crops alongside coffee, such as cocoa and honey. This has helped the poverty level in the region drop from 70% down to 31%.

Portland Coffee Roasters recently received Gold Certification of Sustainability at Work through the city of Portland, OR for the third time in a row. Their sustainability efforts include their wind-powered headquarters, supplied by 100% renewable energy, with skylights and motion-activated lights to reduce electricity consumption, robust company-wide recycling efforts, a burlap bag recycling program, the composting of all company organic waste and bike-delivered coffee throughout downtown Portland.
