Gerard Clement Smit sought to design a brewer that— with proper cleaning and basic maintenance— would grace the homes of coffee lovers for generations. This meant that the Moccamaster needed to be made with quality components and assembled in such a fashion that it would stand up to the wear and tear of everyday use. Meeting this threshold required sourcing components that were durable, safe, and environmentally conscientious.
Over the years, the materials used in Moccamaster brewers have been refined with an emphasis on the environment and health. Today, the Technivorm factory continues to innovate by sourcing the best materials available and because they are distributed globally, the materials selected all conform to the myriad safety standards of each of the countries they are sold in. All brewers feature aluminum metal housings and all plastics used are BPA/BPS/BPF and Phthalate free.
