Created in honor of Vancouver, Washington, and inspired by the phrase “A colorful past, and a bright future,” this blend reflects the balance of tradition and progress that defines our community.
The combination of washed Colombia Pink Bourbon and natural Ethiopian coffee brings together sweetness, structure, and fruit-forward clarity. The result is expressive enough for a carefully prepared pour-over while remaining balanced and approachable for everyday brewing.
Vancouver Blend uses a fixed two-coffee formulation. Each component is roasted separately to account for its origin, density, and processing method before the coffees are combined.
This approach allows us to develop sweetness and structure in each component while preserving the bright, layered character of the finished blend.
This exact formulation was evaluated as part of Kafiex Roasters’ winning submission for Roast magazine’s 2026 Micro Roaster of the Year award.
Its inclusion reflects the qualities we value throughout our roasting program: thoughtful sourcing, precise development, consistency, and a balance between familiarity and discovery.
Vancouver Blend is available as a pour-over selection at both Kafiex locations in Vancouver, Washington.
For a bright, versatile coffee that represents both our hometown and our approach to roasting, Vancouver Blend is the perfect place to begin.
What makes good coffee so good? It comes down to the coffee solubles extracted into your water. The coffee industry has defined scientific benchmarks for perfectly brewed coffee, called the Four T's.
Temperature
A consistent brewing temperature between 196°F - 205°F is essential for the extraction of coffee solubles.
Time
A saturation time of 4 - 6 minutes releases the full flavor of the coffee without over- or under-extracting it.
Turbulence
Agitation of the coffee grounds generated as the water flows through the grounds creates even saturation.
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
This is the ratio of coffee solubles to water that the brewer extracts. The ECBC defines ideal TDS yield as between 18% - 22%, and the SCA refers to this as “the Golden Cup.” Moccamaster coffee brewers hit this mark every brew cycle.
